Last days in Garmisch

We spent the last couple days around town exploring their parks and city centers.

For our early morning adventure we hiked up a gorge called the Partnacklamn.

The trail had low ceilings and was right next to the river.

The water was really high and moving fast.

 There was water dripping everywhere.

 We got a little wet.
 Huge walls on both sides.
The water was really white.
We hiked on a trail above the gorge on the way out. Wilson was tired.

The afternoon we went downtown for dinner. This was the front of the restaurant we ate at.

We walked through a city park with a cow sculpture.

And finished dinner off with our favorite EIS.

We went for a walk in the evening around lake Risersee. They don't like dog poop here.

 Amazing view of the Zugspitze.
Mom and the kids on the trail.

Some hairy troll we found on a log.

We also found a great playground.

Amazing view of the lake and Zugspitze.

More of Lugwigs Castles

Today we went to see another castle built by King Ludwig II. It was on an island called Herren Chimsee. We had to ride a boat to get to the island.

The boat was really big.

It was a little chilly with the wind.

Avery loved to sit on the back deck and look at the mountains.

Herren Chimsee castle. Ludwig tried to copy Versailles in France.

Wren standing in the gardens.

The fountains were really neat.

Lizards and turtles.

This water fountain told a story.

This is before our tour of the castle. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside. But it was amazing.

That night we walked downtown and had EIS for dinner. You can see the Zugspitze in the background.

In Garmisch

We spent our second day in Bavaria in the town where we are staying. Garmisch. It is a beautiful town in a green valley surrounded by tall mountains. The tallest mountain in Germany. Zugspitze.

We went on a 4 mile hike around this lake. Lake Eibsee. We brought the beach toys.

The colors were amazing in the lake. So was the reflection.

 This was the halfway point.
 Huge Alps in the background.

 Wooded trail.

Finally got to play in the water at the beach.

We drove 4 hours down south to see Bavaria. Here is our first day.
We eat a lot of our lunches in the back of the car.

First stop is in Fussen to visit Neuschwanstein castle. Crazy King Ludwig II.

Wren scared on the glass porch overlooking the canyon.

 The whole family.

 The back bridge.
Next we went to Ludwig's other castle, Linderhoff. Beautiful valley.
Sculptures all over the grounds.
This fountain would shoot water really high in the air.

Beautiful surroundings. Mountains everywhere.

Hanging around K-town, poetry, and changes

In preparation for our trip down south to Bavaria we did a little shopping in the larger town near us. Kaiserlautern.

Down by the fussgang strasse we saw the town mascot. FISH.
Avery liked the giant soccer ball, sorry FUSSBOL!

We had to do some school time, so Avery wrote poetry. (Germany)

Here is her second one. (Mittlebrunn)

We had one more thing before our trip. Macey got here hair cut and lost a front tooth.

French Military Citadel

Monday we went to another town in nearby France. Bitche. (Not the swear word)

 At the front entrance.

Wilson on the bridge over the moat.

My Aunt got thrown into the stocks.
 The cannons were huge.

We listened to the tour through headsets.

Wren fit into cannonball storage chambers.

At the end of the tour.

Wilson walking through the tunnel entry way.
